2nd Annual Tartan Day Celebration

The Moore-Lindsay Historical House Museum is celebrating Tartan Day!

You're invited to celebrate with us on April 18, 1-4pm.

Picture
Join us at the Moore-Lindsay House on Saturday, April 18, 1-4pm for live music, crafts and games, food, and fun!  You will be delighted by local band Flowers of Edinburgh's personal brand of Celtic music with a kick, and two of the band members are direct descendants of Harry and Daisy Lindsay!  Enjoy authentic bagpipe music played by local musician Coleman Patterson and make sure to stop and chat with Elise from the Pioneer Library System as she weaves a shawl in the Clan Lindsay tartan on her floor loom.  For those looking for something with a little kick, local tasting guide Wendy Newport will conduct two whiskey tastings.  Tickets are required for the whiskey tastings, and more information will be released soon.

History and Background
The primary residents of the historical house, Harry and Daisy Lindsay, owned the home from 1908-1951.  The Lindsay family is descended from Clan Lindsay, a Scottish lowlands clan which has existed for more than 900 years, and they have always honored and appreciated their Scottish heritage.  In honor of this, we hosted a Scottish-themed event in 2025 to celebrate our 50th anniversary, and this year we are continuing the tradition!  We are hosting the celebration in April this year to coincide with Tartan Day, an official holiday that h
onors the heritage, contributions, and culture of Americans with Scottish descent.

The Moore-Lindsay Historical House Museum and Cleveland County Historical Society would like to thank OEC for sponsoring this event!

Whiskey Tasting Information and Tickets

Seasoned connoisseurs and curious newcomers are invited to journey into the world of whiskey at the Moore-Lindsay House.  Our expert guide, Wendy Newport, has curated a selection of high-quality Scotch whiskey (or "whisky", as the Scots would spell it!) for your enjoyment, inspired by the Scottish history of the Lindsay family.  This guided tasting will deepen your appreciation for the craftsmanship, history, and distinct character of each pour.

Discover the nuanced aromas, complex flavors, and rich stories behind a selection of five premium whiskeys. Our knowledgeable host will walk you through tasting techniques, regional distinctions, and the subtle art of nosing and sipping.  Enjoy a relaxed, intimate setting perfect for learning, socializing, and savoring every drop. This is more than a tasting—it's a celebration of whiskey in all its glory.

Tickets are required to attend the whiskey tasting, participants must be 21+, and no one will be admitted to the tasting room without ID.  We are offering two tasting sessions during the Tartan Day Celebration, one at 1:15 and the other at 2:45.  Space is limited, so grab your tickets early!
